Then there are those who are not interested in the flash, bang, whiz kind of custom PC cases, they might want their PC case to fit in with the surrounding decor. For example, if you had a beautiful oak-paneled office, you might not want a grey tin tower case standing out like a sore thumb.

However, you could easily get a cabinetmaker to build you a custom PC case of oak or veneer too. Why not? As long as there are enough holes and enough case fans in it and the inside has been treated to retard fire. It would be more noise absorbing too.
